What are the chances of someone setting a high goal in mind and achieving it?

Mr. Barack Obama used to say he would be the President of the United States of America one day. And he achieved his goal.

Even if you don’t have such high ambitions, do you usually achieve your goals?

Which goals haven’t you achieved?

And which ones have you achieved?

Answer
The chances are as good as the persons will, and luck. If your strong willed enough, and lucky enough, you can achieve many things in life. The things you can’t really achieve are things that are unrealistic, like, Obama had a shot at being the president, but if he chose to try and be president on the exact time and day he thought about going for it, that would be unrealistic. Some things take time, and in time, he achieved his goals.

I usually have high ambitions. I figure, if my ambitions aren’t high enough, how can I expect to even achieve it half way? Like for example, 2 years ago my ambition was to train to be as good as the top professionals in my job profession. I gave myself 1 year to accomplish this. After a year, I only made it about 50% of the way there with my skills. Point is, the skills I learned took me very far in my job profession, so I actually achieved the core goal of being incredibly much better at my job within that year. Now, after another year, I am almost equal to the top professionals, and many new and higher career opportunities have presented itself to me. So it took time, but that goal to be at the top is now basically achieved.

So I usually set high goals, achieve at least halfway at first, and then achieve the rest after the first hurdle.

As for the goals I haven’t achieved yet…those goals are what makes life worth living, and keeps me looking forward to new things. I have to always have a few goals I haven’t achieved yet to keep me growing and excited about the future.
