Wanted People Who Desire a Faster Easier Way to Climb a Success Ladder With Anything They Do
Aug 3rd, 2010 by Russ

Recently, I’ve been using a famous quote by Calvin Coolidge as my mantra to get me going and get things done. Specifically, getting a product together; getting it up on a website; and getting it promoted.

“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence
Talent will not; nothing is more
common than unsuccessful people with talent.
Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb.
Education will not; The world is full of educated derelicts.
Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.
The slogan “press on” has solved and always will solve, the problems of the human race.”
Calvin Coolidge.

While creating my product, I wrote a 23-page sales letter. Everyday I was putting something into the letter, changing it; making it more personal; making it more exciting and enticing to read. I was determined to make this letter a “home run”.

Then I sent out a product introduction feedback request to members of my mastermind group. The feedback I got back was an eye opener for me. My sales letter was way too long. The headline was too negative. I was beating around the bush with my message. It lacked emotional content.

It needed a lot more work.

I read the “Persistence” quote again. It was then, I realized there was one important thing I needed in addition to persistence and determination to accelerate climbing this ladder of success

and that’s competence.

Competence is a measure of your persistence and determination.

Here’s what I mean.

You have to put yourself “out there in the field”. You have to put yourself out where you can be judged, criticized, applauded, supported, and commented on. This judgment or feedback is the measure of your persistence and determination—your level of competence that you have attained so far.

(note: I’m referring to constructive, positive judgment, criticism, and feedback. The negative, non-productive kind of judgment, criticism and feedback can be laughed at because it’s showing how incompetent the judger is at constructive criticism.)

In my case, my sales letter was way off the mark. My competence (success level) for this particular sales letter was in the gutter. Not good at all.

Now that I knew what my competence level was, I became more persistent and determined to make it better–rise up to a higher success level; a new competence level. I had some great feedback and comments to work from. I found some more things wrong while improving the sales letter. I fixed the letter as best as I could for the level of competence I was at. The letter is now 8-pages long and a lot stronger.

You see this dynamic success formula at work all around you. When you see a child first learn to write, ride a bike, tie their shoes, when you make your first omelet, learn something new for the first time, learning a new job skill, for guys–meeting the right lady, for gals–choosing the right guy, driving a stick-shift, parking parallel. Just about anything you think and do is affected by persistence, determination and competence.

Maybe you already know someone who has their own stories and examples of how they became successful—how their competence levels grew from persistence and determination. And every time you meet up with them you notice their new competence level has “grown astronomically” since the previous meeting just a few months earlier! I’ll tell you more of how this “astronomical growth” happens latter.

For now, here’s an observation of what happens when you don’t put yourself “out there”. I used to teach English here in Japan. The majority of the students really want to learn English. They’ll study hard. They’ll study everyday. And that’s it! Nothing more. They will never leave the comfort of the classroom, or their home, or computer to put themselves “out there”. Unfortunately, a large part of this behavior is cultural…Japanese students don’t want to make mistakes and if you are good at something you don’t want to standout. In addition, the majority of them are shy. When it comes to being competent in English this whole country is a classic case of seeing how one can be persistent and determined and not be successful.

Of course there are exceptions. My best students, and I can count them with my fingers, were the ones who spoke English out side of the classroom to each other. They didn’t have the opportunity to meet foreigners, so cipla cialis they talked to each other—discussing, debating, and discovering with each other how to express themselves. Their competence soared way above all the other students.

I’ve been to China and other Asian countries and their English level is so much higher for just one simple reason—they put themselves out there–they are not afraid to talk. This really drives home the point of how important it is to start putting a value on “being competent”.

Fear is your biggest block to success. You can be persistent and determined, but if you have a fear of being judged, criticized, being a failure or a fear of not being good enough—you’re short changing your growth in competence for what you want to do. You’re stuck on the lower rungs of your success ladder.

Why not focus on this idea: “The better I become, the more success I get to become better.” I don’t know about you, but that not only gives me an easier way to climb my success ladder, I can also see a rainbow with a pot of gold waiting for me at the top.

Now here’s how the “astronomical growth” of competence works. With each new “step-up” in your competence level, you get a LARGER awareness of new “potentials” that you never saw before. The higher the level of competence–the LARGER the awareness of new potential ways to accelerate your competence.

Makes sense right. Just like climbing a mountain, taking off on a plane, climbing a tree, your horizons expand with each new height you climb to. You see things that you could not see at lower levels.

A real life example.

I’m a
Japanese-Western-style-ceremonial-wedding-Sheppard. Which means I do Western style ceremonial weddings for Japanese. I won’t go into the details. What’s important is this. When I first started I was nervous and challenged because I had to memorize a 15-page script that was 99% Japanese. This wasn’t your everyday Japanese. This was very special Japanese used only in very formal occasions–weddings being one of them. It was like learning a new language within a language.

It took me about 10 weddings before I felt a new level of competence. With every mistake I made I would go back and rehearse that line and practice it all through the day. I kept practicing the script from start to finish every morning and evening and anytime I was waiting in a line or riding on the train.

When I reached my first level of real competence, I could do the whole ceremony without the manual in front of me. At that level of competence, I got a larger awareness for ways that I could improve the ceremony.

In less than a year, I’ve been the only person to be requested to do weddings. Whenever a hotel is going to shoot a promotional VIDEO, I’m the first to be called. All this happened because with each new level of competence came a larger awareness of the potentials which allowed me to become better. And I capitalized on them.

Another reason for “astronomical growth” in competence is each new success level gets easier and easier to reach. That is why “Success breeds success“. Most everything we start off on is difficult. But with each higher success level our challenges become easier.

So I hope from today, Coolidge’s “Persistence” quote inspires you to capitalize on each new increase of awareness for each step-up in competence on the success ladder you are climbing. If you make this a habit, you’ll be flying up every success ladder you climb and reap the pot of gold for that particular success ladder faster and easier than you have ever done before.

Anyone find success with products that reduce the appearance of stretchmarks after the fact?

If you have had success with a product that reduces stretchmarks after they happen I’d love to hear about it. I know there is no “magic cream” to make them disappear but I also know their appearance can be reduced.
I am not looking for products that prevent stretchmarks but that reduce their appearance after they already exist. Prevention tips are not helpful but I am asking for people‘s accounts of success with products that reduce the appearance of already existing marks.

Answer
I’m 6 months and I have yet to have 1 stretchmark (knocks on wood). I use two things daily : Palmers Cocoa Butter stretch mark cream and CVS(brand) 100% Cocoa Butter stick. Hope this helps!

How to Become the Success You Desire to be
May 19th, 2010 by Russ

Success is something that may seem illusive to some people. To others it may require hard work and determination without submitting to failure. What defines success for you? People who can overcome obstacles in life are usually the ones who succeed in the long run. Perseverance is the key to success. The willingness to go on despite the feeling of failure is the most important step toward success.

Successful people take action and are confident about their decisions even if they don’t know what the outcome will be. They are decisive and willing to take risks.

Successful people enjoy their life no matter what circumstances they find themselves in. They accept the small things in life and give gratitude for them. They treat every day as a gift and not take it for granted. So they do all they can do for that day. They live in the present and not worry about the future.

Successful buy cialis doctor online people take responsibility for their own actions. They don’t blame anyone else. They look at change as an opportunity for something greater and try to use it as a stepping-stone to go to the next lever.

Never give up if you want to be successful. You must have the tenacity to overcome and move on to the next thing. Keep motivating yourself and focus on what is good rather than the bad that happened to you.

Other people are important to successful people. They reach out to others and show kindness. They are not loners because they know that people are important to their success.

Don’t entertain self-pity. Live for today, don’t look back at the past and remember that tomorrow will take care of itself. This is how successful people think and live their lives.

Successful people dream big. Their goals are big goals. They challenge themselves and focus on using their vision to keep their dreams alive.

Coaches and mentors are an asset to the successful person. They realize that “no man is an island.” They are not afraid to ask for help.

People who want to be successful are open to learn new things. They don’t mind making the huge step outside of their comfort zone. They think long-term and seek knowledge through books, tapes, coaching, and from other people that they meet.

Do not procrastinate. Procrastination is the worst enemy of success. Being indecisive and not wanting to act quickly is absolutely unacceptable to the successful person.

Here are some quick tips to the path of your success:

1. Write your vision down. Know exactly what you want in life.

2. Set many long-term goals. Don’t worry if they seem too much for you to achieve.

3. Make immediate plans to take action. Create a sense of urgency.

4. Take a look at your vision board every day to remind yourself what is important and why you need to accomplish what you set forth to do.

5. Take at least three steps each day to accomplish your short-term goals. Your short-term goals usually get you closer to your long-term goals.

6. Discipline is one of the attributes of success. Don’t let negative people get in your space.

7. Respect and value time.

8. Be focused and live in the present.

9. Finish the entire task that you start. Do not leave unfinished business. It takes longer to complete.

10. Persistent and Perseverance are the two “P’s” that will get you to your successful destination.

11. Give yourself a reward each time you complete a task toward getting closer to your success.

12. Keep dreaming and you will finally wake up to find it there.

Cheers to your success. It can happen to you too. Don’t think it belongs to the other person. It is yours depending on how bad you want it.

Do you have a success story for weaning your baby off the pacifier?

My daughter is turning one and I am getting suggestions that I should start weaning her off the pacifier. Right now we only give it to her at nap time and bed time and if she doesn’t get it, she cries. Any success stories would be really appreciated.

Answer
I disagree with people who are saying you need to get rid of it. I don’t think children who can walk should be using them all day, but if a child needs them for comfort to sleep, so be it. If you couldn’t sleep, would you deny yourself some warm milk, soft sheets, a relaxing scent for your bath, or even medicine? To me, the paci is the same thing. If they are using one, they will STILL suck on something if you try to take it away. The paci is better than a hand or a toy that haven’t been clean since whenever.
I don’t buy into the “it will hurt their teeth” myth. I used a paci until I was 5 and my teeth are nearly perfect. Keep in mind, that was over 30 years ago and pacis were NOT like the good ones we have today. On the other hand, my hus NEVER took a paci and neither did his bro or his 2 sis, but they ALL have terrible teeth.
My son didn’t ever take a paci, but if he did, I’d let him have it until he was ready to give it up on his own.
That said, just don’t encourage it. Let it be up to her to find it when she wants it.
Good luck and best wishes.

motivation goals for 2010 its not strengh but desire it is not strength but desire Introspection self motivation finding desire motivation

What is Motivation
Nov 8th, 2009 by Russ

Where do you find motivation?

Personal drive is a powerful motivation to writers, but writers are human too and at times personal drive can need re-fueling. Where can you find the motivation you need at any particular time?

What Is Motivation?

Motivation is a desire to achieve a goal, combined with the energy to work towards that goal. Certainly a student who is motivated about their program usually enjoys university life, feels they are benefiting from study and is able to meet academic deadlines. Students tend to experience different levels of motivation at different times of their programs – often high at the beginning, and near the end and lower in the middle of programs.

Most students at some time are likely to think “Why am I doing this?”, “What am I doing it for?”, “This is too hard”, “I am not enjoying this”. These thoughts often lead to low motivation which make it difficult to study in an efficient way. Motivation provides enthusiasm and commitment to study and can offset negative thinking. Having motivation will certainly make your study life easier.

Sometimes a distinction is made between positive and negative motivation. Positive motivation is a response which includes enjoyment and optimism about the tasks that you are involved in. Negative motivation involves undertaking tasks because there will be undesirable outcomes, eg. failing a subject, if tasks are not completed.

Motivation is the characteristic that helps you achieve your goal. It is the drive that pushes you to work hard and reach whatever it is that you are after. It is the energy that gives you the strength to get up and keep going – even when things are not going your way.

Unfortunately, we cannot buy motivation – it is not something that is bottled up and sold in shops. The good news though is that we can all cultivate this ‘motivation‘. The only thing we need though is a desire to change. We then need to work on ourselves, conquer our fears and push ourselves forward to reach our desired destination.

Where do you find motivation?

I keep looking but am having a really hard time motivating myself! I keep telling myself baby steps, but get upset when my clothes aren’t lose. I know that i have lost some BUT i feel the need for drastic chang…. I want dratisc change. I am tired of the way I look. I HATE meeting a client feeling HUGE………………………………..

Keep up the hard work, rededicate yourself to your goals, challenge yourself everyday, and before you know it you will start to see the difference in the fit of your clothes and the way your body feels. You made the commitment to yourself that you were going to suceed in losing the weight, so don’t let yourself down now.

Entrepreneurial Motivation can be more difficult to find than your good old fashioned ‘motivation‘ on its own, because most of the time it’s a kind of motivation that needs to really be thought about and planned. Why? Entrepreneurial Motivation is usually long term, and that’s why it needs to be broken down into something more short term. This post explores three main motivational factors which influence people’s decisions when quitting their jobs; and how these reasons can be used as entrepreneurial motivation for the long haul.

I find that a lot of people who ultimately decide to leave the workplace and go off to begin their entrepreneurial endeavors, are fueled by a passion for some kind of celebrity status or authority figure, in a particular field or niche. Personally, I think that this can be a very good type of motivation to have because there are always opportunities to feel that you’re actually increasing people’s awareness of who you are; and what you’re an expert at. This is especially true when buy brand name cialis it comes to all the social media sites and applications which are being released daily; you can constantly be marketing yourself.

It comes from wanting change, but feeds on success. Think of motivation as a plant you tend, helping it grow slowly but surely. Use your desire for change to get started. Make small changes in your behavior. Drink three fewer sodas a day, or take the stairs instead of the elevator. These changes need to be small things you can actually accomplish. Don’t set big goals to start! Know that bigger goals are coming, but for now, you are feeding your tender plant with tiny amounts of food and water, to get it started.

These small changes do actually make a difference. Be watching out for improvement! When you see it, latch onto it and celebrate! You’ve gotten over the biggest hurdle; you’ve discovered that change brings results. You have success, and the small changes didn’t kill you.

Sometimes we are afraid to knock at certain doors in our lives, be it in business or in our personal endeavors. We fear rejection and failure, but it’s of paramount importance to realize that behind some of those doors, are your breakthroughs.

People around me used to say that the course I was taking was a tough one. But in my view, if you work hard, no one will stop you from achieving your destiny.

Seriously, don’t wait for motivation. It’s over-rated. If you wait for motivation to give you the kick in the pants you need, chances are you’ll still be fat when this time next year rolls around. Just go and DO IT! Eat healthy. Exercise. Of course you won’t feel like doing it. So what? You have a goal, so start working on it!

Thanks for linking to me! I just spend time being frustrated recently when people tell me I’m all inspiring to them. I don’t want to be inspiring. Don’t look to me for motivation! Find it in YOU to do what you need… And there are going to be days, weeks… god, sometimes even months when really, you don’t want to do this. but it’s like brushing your teeth. You do it because it needs to be done!

You know you’re supposed to be motivated. You’re told it is the only way to get ahead. So if it’s that important, where do you find motivation for yourself? It’s not for sale at the corner store and it seems in short supply at most gatherings of co-workers, so where do you get yours?

I ponder this on a regular basis. How to find the motivation I need to complete certain goals, assignments, or required tasks. Looking at each of these items leads me to different answers.
