What is Motivation
Nov 8th, 2009 by Russ

Where do you find motivation?

Personal drive is a powerful motivation to writers, but writers are human too and at times personal drive can need re-fueling. Where can you find the motivation you need at any particular time?

What Is Motivation?

Motivation is a desire to achieve a goal, combined with the energy to work towards that goal. Certainly a student who is motivated about their program usually enjoys university life, feels they are benefiting from study and is able to meet academic deadlines. Students tend to experience different levels of motivation at different times of their programs – often high at the beginning, and near the end and lower in the middle of programs.

Most students at some time are likely to think “Why am I doing this?”, “What am I doing it for?”, “This is too hard”, “I am not enjoying this”. These thoughts often lead to low motivation which make it difficult to study in an efficient way. Motivation provides enthusiasm and commitment to study and can offset negative thinking. Having motivation will certainly make your study life easier.

Sometimes a distinction is made between positive and negative motivation. Positive motivation is a response which includes enjoyment and optimism about the tasks that you are involved in. Negative motivation involves undertaking tasks because there will be undesirable outcomes, eg. failing a subject, if tasks are not completed.

Motivation is the characteristic that helps you achieve your goal. It is the drive that pushes you to work hard and reach whatever it is that you are after. It is the energy that gives you the strength to get up and keep going – even when things are not going your way.

Unfortunately, we cannot buy motivation – it is not something that is bottled up and sold in shops. The good news though is that we can all cultivate this ‘motivation‘. The only thing we need though is a desire to change. We then need to work on ourselves, conquer our fears and push ourselves forward to reach our desired destination.

Where do you find motivation?

I keep looking but am having a really hard time motivating myself! I keep telling myself baby steps, but get upset when my clothes aren’t lose. I know that i have lost some BUT i feel the need for drastic chang…. I want dratisc change. I am tired of the way I look. I HATE meeting a client feeling HUGE………………………………..

Keep up the hard work, rededicate yourself to your goals, challenge yourself everyday, and before you know it you will start to see the difference in the fit of your clothes and the way your body feels. You made the commitment to yourself that you were going to suceed in losing the weight, so don’t let yourself down now.

Entrepreneurial Motivation can be more difficult to find than your good old fashioned ‘motivation‘ on its own, because most of the time it’s a kind of motivation that needs to really be thought about and planned. Why? Entrepreneurial Motivation is usually long term, and that’s why it needs to be broken down into something more short term. This post explores three main motivational factors which influence people’s decisions when quitting their jobs; and how these reasons can be used as entrepreneurial motivation for the long haul.

I find that a lot of people who ultimately decide to leave the workplace and go off to begin their entrepreneurial endeavors, are fueled by a passion for some kind of celebrity status or authority figure, in a particular field or niche. Personally, I think that this can be a very good type of motivation to have because there are always opportunities to feel that you’re actually increasing people’s awareness of who you are; and what you’re an expert at. This is especially true when buy brand name cialis it comes to all the social media sites and applications which are being released daily; you can constantly be marketing yourself.

It comes from wanting change, but feeds on success. Think of motivation as a plant you tend, helping it grow slowly but surely. Use your desire for change to get started. Make small changes in your behavior. Drink three fewer sodas a day, or take the stairs instead of the elevator. These changes need to be small things you can actually accomplish. Don’t set big goals to start! Know that bigger goals are coming, but for now, you are feeding your tender plant with tiny amounts of food and water, to get it started.

These small changes do actually make a difference. Be watching out for improvement! When you see it, latch onto it and celebrate! You’ve gotten over the biggest hurdle; you’ve discovered that change brings results. You have success, and the small changes didn’t kill you.

Sometimes we are afraid to knock at certain doors in our lives, be it in business or in our personal endeavors. We fear rejection and failure, but it’s of paramount importance to realize that behind some of those doors, are your breakthroughs.

People around me used to say that the course I was taking was a tough one. But in my view, if you work hard, no one will stop you from achieving your destiny.

Seriously, don’t wait for motivation. It’s over-rated. If you wait for motivation to give you the kick in the pants you need, chances are you’ll still be fat when this time next year rolls around. Just go and DO IT! Eat healthy. Exercise. Of course you won’t feel like doing it. So what? You have a goal, so start working on it!

Thanks for linking to me! I just spend time being frustrated recently when people tell me I’m all inspiring to them. I don’t want to be inspiring. Don’t look to me for motivation! Find it in YOU to do what you need… And there are going to be days, weeks… god, sometimes even months when really, you don’t want to do this. but it’s like brushing your teeth. You do it because it needs to be done!

You know you’re supposed to be motivated. You’re told it is the only way to get ahead. So if it’s that important, where do you find motivation for yourself? It’s not for sale at the corner store and it seems in short supply at most gatherings of co-workers, so where do you get yours?

I ponder this on a regular basis. How to find the motivation I need to complete certain goals, assignments, or required tasks. Looking at each of these items leads me to different answers.
