Mr. Barack Obama used to say he would be the President of the United States of America one day. And he achieved his goal.
Even if you don’t have such high ambitions, do you usually achieve your goals?
Which goals haven’t you achieved?
And which ones have you achieved?
AnswerThe chances are as good as the persons will, and luck. If your strong willed enough, and lucky enough, you can achieve many things in life. The things you can’t really achieve are things that are unrealistic, like, Obama had a shot at being the president, but if he chose to try and be president on the exact time and day he thought about going for it, that would be unrealistic. Some things take time, and in time, he achieved his goals.
I usually have high ambitions. I figure, if my ambitions aren’t high enough, how can I expect to even achieve it half way? Like for example, 2 years ago my ambition was to train to be as good as the top professionals in my job profession. I gave myself 1 year to accomplish this. After a year, I only made it about 50% of the way there with my skills. Point is, the skills I learned took me very far in my job profession, so I actually achieved the core goal of being incredibly much better at my job within that year. Now, after another year, I am almost equal to the top professionals, and many new and higher career opportunities have presented itself to me. So it took time, but that goal to be at the top is now basically achieved.
So I usually set high goals, achieve at least halfway at first, and then achieve the rest after the first hurdle.
As for the goals I haven’t achieved yet…those goals are what makes life worth living, and keeps me looking forward to new things. I have to always have a few goals I haven’t achieved yet to keep me growing and excited about the future.

what will goal setting help u do as an adult?
AnswerWell interesting question
Basically have you ever felt you are just drifting thru life? not really going anywhere? Do you know where you are going and how you are getting there?
Have you ever thought about where you thought you would be now 5 years ago?
By setting a goal you are focusing your life in a certain direction. You will then work to achieve this goal.
Last question — would you get to the airport and not know where you are going?
AnswerIn order to hit the target, you must know where to aim.
I am interested in teaching Goal-setting to high school kids, following the outline of: 1) Write down your top 100 goals 2) Pick the ten most important ones and re-write them daily 3) Break each of those goals down into tasks with deadlines 4) Track your progress and take a step towards each goal every day
What do you all think? I believe if we could get kids to do this before they complete high school, we could see some amazing results. They have done studies with college kids, and discovered that of 17% who had goals, only 3% had them written down. Of the 17%, the ones who had not written them down earned 3 times what everyone else did, and the ones who had written them down earned 10 times the average.
What are your thoughts on this?
AnswerI think that this is a great general idea. (I’m in highschool, and most kids just blunder around without a clue, or a purpose for being there). But the only thing is, the only students who would be willing to participate in this activity are those who are good students, and really don’t need that activity for setting goals, because they already have them. If you were willing to take a different approach, I think that you would find that your program would be very succesful. And one last thing- thank you for willing to help children my age. Most of them really need it.
?
AnswerThat fact that they are part of your motivation does not make them meaningful. The satisfaction that you get out of this situation is not meaningful since you are the one that choose whether is a satisfaction or not.
The only meaningful task will be the one that was not chosen by you to satisfy you, instead was chosen to you to satisfy others because you are less attached to what they consider satisfaction for themselves.
