Goal Setting Store Motivation
You might remember him from Shallow Hal as that really tall guy on the elevator, who helps Hal get over his superficial obsession with hot women, but Tony Robbins is best known as a motivational speaker, life coach, NLP trainer, and a prolific author of several books on personal empowerment. He has also developed several programs focused on helping people to achieve their personal goals. Programs such as “Personal Power” and “Personal Power II” along with “Get the Edge” all of which are available in audio formats that can be purchased online or at your local bookstore.
Mr. Robbins has a dynamic personality that can electrify a room and the people in it. Anyone who has attended one of his conferences on personal empowerment has witnessed his electrifying performance first hand. Many of them report having had an especially moving experience while attending a conference unlike any other. He is a strong proponent of visionary strategies, such as, “see it, believe in your power to do it, and then do it.”
One unique strategy for personal empowerment endorsed by Tony Robbins is firewalking. This involves walking across heated coals without socks and shoes to protect the feet from the heat of the coals. People are able to walk across these very hot coals without incurring burns to their feet because they program their mind and body not to sense or react to the heat of the coals.
Walking barefoot across smoldering coals may not be something you would ever consider doing. However, it is truly remarkable that firewalking without injury is even possible with the implementation of mind over matter thinking. If you have the chance to attend a firewalking event, it certainly promises to be quite an interesting experience to say the least.
The firewalk experience was added to the lessons that Tony teaches in order to help people find and use their personal empowerment to achieve life goals through his formulation of neuro-associative conditioning therapy. This is largely based on the concepts of neuro-linguistic programming concepts which Tony has studied extensively.
NLP is a holistic approach to reprogramming mental connections to produce alternative brain connectivity and experiences, meaning that through NLP techniques you can change how you visualize the world around you and your place in it. Your vision of the world and of yourself can become clouded and this can prevent you from acheiveing your goals. NLP therapy can clear your field of vision for a more accurate assessment of the things that are happening in your life so that your reactions to them are appropriate to the situation. Central to what Tony teaches is his strong belief that life achievements can only occur through the active particpation of a person. People can choose to actively pursue achievements or they can just let life happen to them and accept whatever crumbs may come their way.
Tony Robbins‘ holistic approach to personal empowerment has expanded to include other holistic appraches to living. These include, maintaining a diet of natural foods and using natural supplements for added nutritional support, exercise, and avoiding harmful substances such as alchohol and tobacco. He has also developed a line of natural supplements known as Inner Balance. The name of his product line stems from his belief that balancing the body from within through the use of natural supplements will also balance your life.
Sharing his knowledge of self empowerment with others is extremely important to Tony. He devotes a great amount of his time teaching young people his techniques for empowerment to help give them an early start in achieving their life goals. Tony has even developed programs for use in prisons so that inmates can change their lives before re-entering society as free citizens.
There are those who are critical of Tony and his teachings; they claim that achievements are not made possible through the use of personal empowerment techniques. However, the large number of people who have found personal empowerment to be important in the achievement of their life goals strongly disagree with any criticism aimed at Tony Robbins.

Just wondering how others think of him.
AnswerI had to google his picture, but he’s okay looking. There’s just something about a guy who writes self-help books that’s a turn off.
I’m a big believer in modeling successful people. I do the best I can to surround myself with the right people and go as deep as I can in their work. It’s not just enough for me to read a book or watch a video. I want to spend time with them on a deeper level. Discover their nuances, their strategies and how they think. The challenge with this approach is that the more in demand the person is the harder it is to get access.
One of the guys I really wanted to spend an extended period of time with and go more ‘vertical’ with was Tony Robbins. The first step I took was to take an Unlimited Power Weekend. It’s his crazy over the top walk on hot coals (really) weekend. It was fantastic and definitely changed me. It’s a 3 day seminar that goes for 12 hours per day and you just about never sit down. Imagine the best rock concert you have ever been to that you don’t want to end.
As much as I loved UPW I was left jonesin’ for more! I decided to go a level deeper and sign up for Date with Destiny. DWD is 12 hours a day for seven days with this lunatic! And, it aint cheap -$5,495 per ticket. When you do the math on two tickets (for me and Kim) with airfare and hotel it definitely becomes a ‘put your money where your mouth is’ kind of thing. To give you a feel for who this guy is, here’s a snippet of Tony getting intense with Al Gore at the TED conference (it’s a great 20 min video but if you want to skip to the Al Gore part start at about minute 16).
There’s about 2000 people that show up for DWD. When you cue up to register you’ll see a very well organized process that looks like a Broadway performance- dancers included. The event begins that afternoon and includes people lining up at the doors to get a good seat hours before the event begins. When the doors open you walk into a huge ballroom with 10,000 watts of music power banging into your chest. You’ll find a dark room filled with smoke machines, rock concert worthy lighting in full tilt and everyone up on their chairs dancing. This isn’t a “let’s wait until the third day of the event to let our hair down” kind of thing. This is “let’s party” from the nano second you walk in the joint.
Prior to walking in the room I was trying to figure out how anyone could hold my attention for 12 hours a day for seven days in a row. Now, I get it. In fact, the seminar is so engaging that when you have to go to the bathroom you run as fast as you can and on your return ask the guy next to you what you missed. There were days when I looked up at the clock and realized that it was 5 p.m. and we haven’t even stopped for lunch. Here’s an example (from someone’s rogue video) of a ‘break’ at the event designed to help keep you awake.
Each of the 7 days of the event cover various areas of training. If you want a more complete list of how that breaks down you can get it here. It’s hard for me to pick my favorite section but if I had to pick one I would say it’s the masculine feminine section. Tony takes traditional relationship strategies and flips it on it’s head. He shows you how the average American man has (in some cases) gone from a Clark Gable masculine man in the 50′s to a Khaki pants wearing p***y in the 2000′s. He also explains how women have (in some cases) slid from sexy and feminine to a more masculine version of themselves.
It’s next to impossible for me to fully describe over 70 hours of content. Trust me when I tell you it was totally worth it and that I would do it again (actually I did do it again). I just believe that it’s critical who we ‘hang out’ and ‘surround’ ourselves with. Don’t get me wrong I am by no means a Tony Robbins drink the purple Kool-Aid groupie. His stuff is just that life changing and worth the time and money that I wanted to share it. It has certainly changed mine without a doubt.
tony robbins changed my life. after getting his program, get the edge — i quit smoking and drinking, lost 30 pounds (I exercise daily now) and quit my job to start my own company… all in just 6 months! my whole life changed, and i really want to go to one of his seminars, but they’re very expensive and require lots of travel to get there. i’m wondering if it’s worth it — have you been and what is it like?
Answerif you have had so much success with his program already, you’ll probably love one of his seminars. i have been to 3 and date with destiny is the best. it is probably one of the most exhilarating things that you can do. it is hard to explain. its like a rock concert about success in every area of your life. you’ll bond with like-minded people and learn so much about yourself. do it with an open mind, so you get the most out of it.

Someone said I can get free downloads for Tony Robbins‘ hypnotism therapy courses. I can’t find them anywhere. I met someone who said he didn’t realize that the hypnotism worked until he sat back and thought of the things that happened to him and his life after he listened to the hypnotism things. I don’t believe in hypnotism but I’d definitely would like to see if there’s something I could try to see if there is something worth believing in it.
