Benefits Of Goal Setting Software Compared With Goal Setting On Paper
Feb 7th, 2012 by Russ

In the last few years, goal setting software is becoming more and more popular. Offering ease of use, goal setting software looks like it may transform the way goal setters set goals. But, how does goal setting software compare with setting goals on paper? As you read this article, you will find the benefits of both goal setting systems.

Paper based goal setting systems are used more often than not. There are benefits and negatives to using a paper based goal setting system. Some goal setters like to write goals down on paper, and it can seem like a great idea.

After all, goal setting on paper, allows you to easily refer back to your goal. This is important, because more often you see your goal, more often your focus will be on it.

However, this benefit can work against us. For example, you write your goal on paper. Now that is an extra piece of paper, which often will get into piles of other papers. Now the goal is hidden. It is time to bring it out, but where is it!

Goal setting software is a good alternative, and it allows you to have your goals all in one place. There are many different goal setting software available today. They basically all do the same thing, help you to set goals.

When you look for goal setting software, you will find a difference in focus with some of the goal setting software. Some may focus on a project management system, while others are dedicated to an alternative to ‘To Do’ lists. And yet others focus on actual goal setting which goal setters focus on.

Finding goal setting software to achieve this balance is difficult. Some focus on certain areas, and there is also the fact of trying to figure out which goal setting system is best for your needs. The good point is that many goal setting software companies will have trial versions, allowing you to test to see if the software meets your needs.

Many of these goal setting software packages allow you to print up some form of summary for your goal. This can be ideal, because goal setting often requires setting several goals – some big, some small, and some in between. And you may not want to have all your goals on paper, just the big ones.

One of the biggest problems you will find with goal setting software is that of focus. Having software is great, but it can become like a book in a library – hard to find. Self discipline then must come into focus, so you can enter the software, and keep looking at your goals and working forward on them.

Overall, we have many different ways of working. You may like working your goals on paper, it may seem more like you are setting the goal, whereas some may prefer a software based goal setting software. Either way, it can be hard getting used to a new goal setting system. Either way, you will have the tools for goal setting and goal accomplishment.

Is this realistic or am I setting my goal a little too high?

I started the p90x program last week and am currently doing weight watchers. Is it possible to lose 20-30 pounds in 5 weeks? Or should I add some other kind of exercise in this routine? Thanks!

Answer
I think thats a bit too high. It may take 4 to 5 months. Oh and just do more walking cause P90X is alot of stuff already to do

Feb 7th, 2012 by Russ

What is smart goal setting? And what is a goal setting system? And can they help you to achieve your goals any faster? Join me as we take a look at how smart goal setting and goal setting systems can help you to reach your goals at lightening speed.

Points Covered In This Article:
* What Is Smart Goal Setting?
* What Is A Goal Setting System?
* Putting Smart Goal Setting To Work With A Goal Setting System

* What Is Smart Goal Setting?
If we think of a goal as a time line, we find that we can put an A point and a B point to the equation. We find that we are at A, and our goal is at B. Now in the science of goal setting and achievement, we can think about this statistically.

You can either don’t succeed or you do succeed. And out of the successes, we find that some of the success stories will achieve their goal sooner than another – even for similar goals, with similar circumstances.

We want to focus on those that achieve success quicker. And the reason is simple, it means smart goal setting. And this is what the smart part is – a way to work smarter not harder to get goals achieved in quicker time.

* What Is A Goal Setting System?
A goal setting system is a framework, which works with all your goals. You can apply it to create projects big or small.

A goal setting system can be your own system or someone else’s. And it should first be tried and tested, and then learned off by heart, so you can always use it.

* Putting Smart Goal Setting To Work With A Goal Setting System
Smart + a system to set goals = major success. The reason is simple, and I will go into the equation.

You see, when you get that smart system, you are ultimately moving forward. But, without a system, you can easily get stuck. Well, when the space shuttle is ‘go for launch’, it goes and goes. There is no stopping it, and no room for procrastination. Instead you are moving forward.

A goal setting system is there to constantly provide you with the framework to keep moving forward. A goal setting system is like the parts of a vehicle, the engine, and the wheels.

Your part is to act as the smart fuel. You take action, and the results work, because you always create goals when problems or obstacles present themselves, and you can move forward at lighting speeds!

Tony Robbins Date With Destiny Working on Your Jet Set Psychology
Feb 6th, 2012 by Russ

I’m a big believer in modeling successful people. I do the best I can to surround myself with the right people and go as deep as I can in their work. It’s not just enough for me to read a book or watch a video. I want to spend time with them on a deeper level. Discover their nuances, their strategies and how they think. The challenge with this approach is that the more in demand the person is the harder it is to get access.

One of the guys I really wanted to spend an extended period of time with and go more ‘vertical’ with was Tony Robbins. The first step I took was to take an Unlimited Power Weekend. It’s his crazy over the top walk on hot coals (really) weekend. It was fantastic and definitely changed me. It’s a 3 day seminar that goes for 12 hours per day and you just about never sit down. Imagine the best rock concert you have ever been to that you don’t want to end.

As much as I loved UPW I was left jonesin’ for more! I decided to go a level deeper and sign up for Date with Destiny. DWD is 12 hours a day for seven days with this lunatic! And, it aint cheap -$5,495 per ticket. When you do the math on two tickets (for me and Kim) with airfare and hotel it definitely becomes a ‘put your money where your mouth is’ kind of thing. To give you a feel for who this guy is, here’s a snippet of Tony getting intense with Al Gore at the TED conference (it’s a great 20 min video but if you want to skip to the Al Gore part start at about minute 16).

There’s about 2000 people that show up for DWD. When you cue up to register you’ll see a very well organized process that looks like a Broadway performance- dancers included. The event begins that afternoon and includes people lining up at the doors to get a good seat hours before the event begins. When the doors open you walk into a huge ballroom with 10,000 watts of music power banging into your chest. You’ll find a dark room filled with smoke machines, rock concert worthy lighting in full tilt and everyone up on their chairs dancing. This isn’t a “let’s wait until the third day of the event to let our hair down” kind of thing. This is “let’s party” from the nano second you walk in the joint.

Prior to walking in the room I was trying to figure out how anyone could hold my attention for 12 hours a day for seven days in a row. Now, I get it. In fact, the seminar is so engaging that when you have to go to the bathroom you run as fast as you can and on your return ask the guy next to you what you missed. There were days when I looked up at the clock and realized that it was 5 p.m. and we haven’t even stopped for lunch. Here’s an example (from someone’s rogue video) of a ‘break’ at the event designed to help keep you awake.

Each of the 7 days of the event cover various areas of training. If you want a more complete list of how that breaks down you can get it here. It’s hard for me to pick my favorite section but if I had to pick one I would say it’s the masculine feminine section. Tony takes traditional relationship strategies and flips it on it’s head. He shows you how the average American man has (in some cases) gone from a Clark Gable masculine man in the 50′s to a Khaki pants wearing p***y in the 2000′s. He also explains how women have (in some cases) slid from sexy and feminine to a more masculine version of themselves.

It’s next to impossible for me to fully describe over 70 hours of content. Trust me when I tell you it was totally worth it and that I would do it again (actually I did do it again). I just believe that it’s critical who we ‘hang out’ and ‘surround’ ourselves with. Don’t get me wrong I am by no means a Tony Robbins drink the purple Kool-Aid groupie. His stuff is just that life changing and worth the time and money that I wanted to share it. It has certainly changed mine without a doubt.

what is a tony robbins seminar like?

tony robbins changed my life. after getting his program, get the edge — i quit smoking and drinking, lost 30 pounds (I exercise daily now) and quit my job to start my own company… all in just 6 months! my whole life changed, and i really want to go to one of his seminars, but they’re very expensive and require lots of travel to get there. i’m wondering if it’s worth it — have you been and what is it like?

Answer
if you have had so much success with his program already, you’ll probably love one of his seminars. i have been to 3 and date with destiny is the best. it is probably one of the most exhilarating things that you can do. it is hard to explain. its like a rock concert about success in every area of your life. you’ll bond with like-minded people and learn so much about yourself.
do it with an open mind, so you get the most out of it.

How can you ensure that the goal-setting tasks become meaningful to the employee and not merely busy-work?

?

Answer
That fact that they are part of your motivation does not make them meaningful. The satisfaction that you get out of this situation is not meaningful since you are the one that choose whether is a satisfaction or not.

The only meaningful task will be the one that was not chosen by you to satisfy you, instead was chosen to you to satisfy others because you are less attached to what they consider satisfaction for themselves.

Any good books on goal setting?

I’m a 51 years old medical professional that has it almost all.

My life is good. Got a good job, money, friends, etc. My life is “set”

I’ve always been a goal oriented person and lately I have none.

Life is boring and “automatic”.

Are there any good books on goal setting? Or how to deal with my goal setting behavior?

Is it normal for a man to want to have goals? I usually look towards short term goals in the 3-6 months range.

Answer
Any books by Richard Carlson
